The mission of the Make it Count contest series is to encourage the progression of skateboarding through friendly competition. It is our goal to reward the winners with an unforgettable life experience rather than a cash prize or trophy.
Through the Make it Count series, winners from each competition will be flown up to Element YMCA Skate camp on Sequoia Lake. They will enjoy a week stay in the mountains where they will have the opportunity to skate our world class skateparks in a very different environment than they are familiar with. In addition to skateboarding, they will have the option to learn how to make a skateboard, play the guitar or fish on the lake. They will also participate in team building activities and gain skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
In addition to this amazing experience, they will have the chance to compete in the series finals to become sponsored by Element Skateboards to further propel their career in skateboarding. Our 2009 winner, Vincent Luevanos, will be skating in Damn Am for Element in October. This is something that would have been impossible for him to do without this contest series.
Testimonials from 2009 finalists:
“There was nothing like this series when I was growing up and I wish there was. This was one of my favorite skateboard contests that I have ever been to. The energy was so high, but so positive at the same time. Everyone was rooting for everyone.” Chad Tim Tim, Element Team Rider.
“I have never competed in a skateboard contest in the woods before. I liked this experience because it was more than just a contest, it was a journey”. Vincent Luevanos age 15 South Central LA, CA.
“This has been one of the most memorable and exciting weeks of my life…I don’t ever want to leave”. Dylan Witkin Age 16 Lake Forest, CA.
“GIVING YOUTH THE TOOLS TO SURVIVE IN EVERY ENVIRONMENT”
